Description:This study assessed the status of the grey cheeked mangabey (Lophocebus ugandae), the only Ugandan primate whose distribution status approaches to endemic / near endemic, and initiated habituation of two groups in Mabira Central Forest Reserve for tourist viewing.
The goal was to generate information for evaluation of the status of the species and contribute to strengthening of the conservation of Mabira Forest. Assessments were conducted in the South Busoga and Bukaleba forests in Busoga, Kikonda (Budzi) forest in Bunyoro, and in several small forests within Bunyoro and Toro.
