Project: UP SCALING THE PRODUCTION AND USE OF UGANDAN SHEA BUTTER (VITELLARIA PARADOXA) OIL IN FOOD APPLICATIONS (2016-2017)

Co-Implementers: College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES), Makerere University; National Chemotherapeutics Research Institute (NCRI), Ministry of Health

Nature and Livelihoods is partnering on a project led by CAES and NCRI. It is seeking to diversify use of shea butter by exploring its applicability in/as edible oils and in bakery. Nature and Livelihoods expects this to contributing to increase demand for the butter and therefore returns to the landowners which in turn would further motivate farmers to sustain these hitherto naturally growing trees in their cultivations.
