Description:This study was our first step for nature conservation in the park-lands and pasture lands of Eastern Uganda and surrounding. This project documented the types and status of indigenous plants traditionally used by people as sources food, medicines, fuel wood and other socioeconomic values in the Districts of Katakwi, Amuria, and Bukedea.
This approach is pertinent to this region because of profusion of such plants. Conservation action is urgently needed for this region because of poor protected area coverage. Clearing of marginal sites for cropping and wood over exploitation particularly for commercial charcoal production are some of the main threats to the biodiversity of this region.
